Rejuvenation Through Ancient Wisdom

Facial or cosmetic acupuncture places fine needles in the face and sometimes the body with the aim of changing skin appearance. It is still an invasive procedure because needles cross the skin, even though it does not involve injections or surgery.

Its cosmetic use is popular, but high-quality evidence for broad or lasting rejuvenation remains limited.

How Facial Acupuncture Works

Needling creates small local tissue stimuli. Proposed explanations involving circulation, collagen, or wound-healing responses are hypotheses, not proof that treatment reverses a root cause of skin aging.

A small uncontrolled pilot study reported a change in facial elasticity, and a 2025 wait-list-controlled trial reported improvement in frown lines. These studies do not establish effects on collagen, elastin, lymphatic drainage, acne, pigmentation, sagging, or long-term aging, and larger independent trials are needed.

What Our Patients Notice

Some people report subjective changes in appearance or relaxation, but testimonials cannot establish efficacy. Cosmetic acupuncture should not be promised to even skin tone, reduce sagging, improve sleep, or increase energy.

What to Expect During Your Session

Your first appointment begins with a conversation about your goals and health history. Understanding your overall wellness picture helps us create a treatment tailored specifically to you. We then place needles on body points that address any underlying imbalances affecting your skin—whether that is digestion, stress, or hormonal fluctuations. The facial needling targets your specific areas of concern, and then you simply relax for 20-30 minutes while the treatment works its magic.

Most people find the experience deeply calming rather than uncomfortable. The needles are remarkably fine—far thinner than those used for blood tests—and many patients drift off during their sessions.

Getting the Best Results

There is no evidence-based standard course or proven maintenance schedule. If you try it, agree on realistic goals, take consistent photographs if useful, and stop if the benefit does not justify the cost or burden.

The Holistic Difference

TCM may describe internal patterns related to appearance, but these are traditional theory rather than a biomedical explanation or guarantee. Bruising, pinpoint bleeding, soreness, or faintness can occur; infection and other serious injury are rare but possible. Avoid needling through active infection or open skin and disclose blood thinners, bleeding disorders, pregnancy, recent cosmetic procedures, or immune suppression.
